BBVA has launched the first edition of BBVA Open Talent Ideas, which begins by posing a major challenge: In today’s complex economic climate, with interest rates languishing at all-time lows, what business models makes sense both for banks and customers? You have until March 31 to get involved and submit your ideas.

BBVA Open Talent Ideas represents a brand new challenge from BBVA. The idea is to take the impact of low interest rates, both for investors and clients around the world, and foster a constructive search for creative solutions and true innovation.

BBVA aims to transform the world of finance, and is therefore calling on all innovators to get involved in this competition, the winner of which will claim a prize of 10,000 euros and get the chance to partner with senior executives at the bank to flesh out the awarded idea.

Here’s what you need to know if you want to take part:

● The 10 best ideas will be selected to compete in the final stage. The nominees will travel to Madrid to present and defend their proposals before a panel of BBVA senior management.

● The competition is now open for entries, with the deadline passing on March 31, 2017. The shortlisted ideas will have to compete in the subsequent stages, which are detailed here. The winner will be announced the first week of June.

● You can submit projects in several formats: video (maximum duration of 5 minutes), podcast (same duration limit), or in writing via a document or presentation (maximum of 3 pages, not including any annexes).

Besides this competition, the latest BBVA Open Talent competition, now entering its 9th edition, is set to get underway shortly. With it, BBVA aims to incentivize innovation in the banking and financial ecosystem, seeking out start-ups on three areas: Identity, Artificial Intelligence and Business Fintech. There will also be a regional competition. In a nutshell: many prizes and ways to participate.

Last year a total of 1,217 start-ups from more than 70 countries took part in the competition, a buzzing forum on innovation and learning. If you are involved in a tech-related project in banking or finance, or that may potentially be related with the sector, make sure you don’t miss the call for submissions that will be announced shortly.

In the meantime, get involved in the BBVA Open Talent Ideas challenge. Help change banking with fresh opportunities by taking part in Open Talent Ideas.
