Growth in mobile payment use in Spain is still limited: the consumer habit transformation process always takes time. However, there is a wide offering of services linked to mobile payments, particularly from banks and leading tech companies, with a view to seducing a growing market.
Companies and institutions are coming together to develop smart cities as international meeting points and business hubs. Barcelona, New York, the Australian government or the EU for example have been using APIs to drive connected cities. Rudolf Giffinger, one of the world's leading experts in urban development, defines smart cities using six clearly separate criteria: economy, mobility, environment, administration, way of life and residents. Most cities in the world assess their characteristics as smart cities based on these values.
The project developed by BBVA Data & Analytics has analyzed over 413 million card transactions made in the course of one year –always using aggregated and anonymous data– to offer an up-to-date vision of the dynamics of these cities.
At 24, Alfonso Gómez-Jordana has been appointed the Project Manager for Google's Firebase Authentication. In spite of his short experience, his career caught the eye of Google's scouts and his potential and talent were given due appreciation.
Traditional financial institutions are undertaking their digital transformation. Some decide the best way to achieve this is through open banking and open their platforms and APIs to third parties.
